Vixjo Design, Inc. has been fortunate to work with the Marc Jacobs Women's Collection team since Fall 2011 producing season books, look books, and mailers for their VIP customers, as well as training materials for MJ sales teams around the world to get know the collection and trends of the season.

Fall 2013 Collection Book

The design of the Fall 2013 Book took strong inspiration from the Fall 2013 Runway show which featured a recreation of the bright glowing sun from Olafur Eliasson's The Weather Project. The enormous sun was a central focus of the show, and its cast of yellow light filled the Park Avenue Armory and removed all color, giving the audience a first look at the collection in a monochromatic yellow-orange glow only. White lights were then turned on to reveal a second walk of the models with garments visible in full color. This play of color is carried throughout the book, and the cover featured the sun in a raised gold foil on Stardream Antique Gold paper with a soft-touch aqueous coating. Shades of metallic pantones gave shine to the interior text pages throughout.


Fall 2013 Collection Mailers

We created two mailers for VIP customers that would be distributed by mail, and in stores, around the globe. The first, with black cover (accordion fold) features select accessories and handbags, and the second with its gold metallic cover (barrel fold) features ready to wear and accessories looks. Both covers feature the season's gold foil sun and a soft-touch aqueous coating, and, inside, a metallic gold translucent vellum listing the style and product numbers.


Fall 2013 Collection Selling Tool

The look of each season is carried throughout the design of the season's selling tool, which is a 175-page book that gives store associates the background knowledge of the collection, inspiration, garments and accessories, overall company values and mission, season ads and press, philanthropic initiatives, and interesting stories about Marc Jacobs and the company.


Spring 2013 Collection Book

The Spring 2013 collection featured strong, graphic prints and patterns, with many in black and white. We recreated a detail from the black and white stripes featured in the first look of the book, and used this pattern as the design for the cover. The book was distributed in a custom envelope made with Neenah Classic Columns which enhanced the striped look of the season. The cover was coated with a soft-touch aqueous, and the interior pages featured metallic gold pantones on high-gloss McCoy stock. The overall effect was a beautiful and rich mixture of textures.


Spring 2013 Collection Mailer

The barrel fold mailer featured the season's branded cover design with the soft-touch aqueous coating and gold foil logo.


Spring 2013 Collection Selling Tool

The selling tool, distributed to sales associates in Marc Jacobs stores around the world, is designed in an editorial style and featured "The List" of top 10 trends of the season, press and editorial coverage, the season ads, runway behind-the-scenes photos, and a full catalog of the season's ready-to-wear garments, accessories, and shoes.


Resort 2012 Collection Book

The Resort 2012 collection featured fun, bright, spring-like colors with beautiful floral and butterfly patterns and prints. We wanted the design of the book to feel equally fun and bright, and feature resort imagery in a patchwork and layered look. To achieve this affect we designed each spread as a unique photoshop composite that used the looks featured on that spread as an inspiration for the layout, content, and overall colors and texture. Much of the background imagery was actual inspiration images for the design of the collection itself. The book was distributed inside a custom envelope made from Neenah Classic Columns. The Cover, also printed on Neenah Classic Columns, featured a floral print from the collection, with a custom blind emboss adding three varying layers of dimension, depth, and detail to the individual carnations.
